Learning To Play Guitar
Is there anyone out there who has never heard of the video game called Guitar Hero. It would be almost impossible to stroll through a video games shop and not see folks of all ages playing this game and pretending to be (insert your favorite guitarist here) Perhaps you are one of them.
This video game has become so immensely favorite due to the fact that many of us aspire to being a great guitarist and also to the fact that the guitar has become such a popular instrument. So now it’s time to put away the video game for a while and concentrate on becoming a genuine guitarist.
Why Are So Many People Learning To Play Guitar?
Without doubt the guitar has become one of the most popular of musical instruments, largely due to it’s versatility and the many types of music that can be played on it, including Jazz to Rock, from Classical to Country and much more. All of these styles can be played when you’re learning how to play guitar.
But which type of guitar will you choose to play. Acoustic – Acoustic Electric – Solid Body Electric or maybe Bass Guitar. Or maybe all of them!
They all have their own particular sounds and qualities but the basics of playing remain the same.
Whether you wish to play songs you have written or you just want to strum along to your favorite tunes, there’s no doubt, whatever type of guitar you choose you cant go far wrong.
Learning how to play guitar is no different than learning to play any other musical instrument, patience, perseverance and practice will be required. Just like anything else that’s worth learning, it will take some effort but you will soon realize that the effort will be very well rewarded.
There is of course, one most important thing to becoming a guitar god and that is acquiring a guitar. As already stated, there are various kinds of guitar you can choose from and, in addition, a good deal of patience and practice will also go a long way.
OK. Here’s some more friendly advice that will help you to become a great guitarist.
Keep your fingernails cut short. Keeping your fingernails short help you to create crystal clear sound. Long fingernails will stop you from pressing down on the strings in the correct way and cause “dumbing”.
You’re going to find that your finger tips will get very sore, particularly on the fingers that you use on the fretboard. But keep at it. Hard callouses will soon form on them and this will actually help you to play notes more easily.
Make sure that you don’t practice for to long at any given time. About 20 minutes is best and then rest before you start to practice again.
